When buying a New Stairlift in London

Before enquiring about Stairlift prices in London find out the following information:

1. Stand at the bottom of the stairs and look to the top step and ask which is the side I want my stairlift to be on, the left or the right? usually its the side with the hard wall is on.

2. Is my staircase curved? if yes, then you can choose which side to have the lift, whichever is best for you.

3. Where is the nearest power supply to the stairs located?

4. Are the any obstructions i.e. a door way close to the bottom of the Staircase? You will need at least 2ft

How much should I expect to pay for a new stairlift in London?

Brooks Lincoln Stairlift

You can expect to pay between £1300 – £2000 approx for a New Straight Stairlift, of course the more extras you have the price can increase.

“If you are looking to purchase a curved stairlift in London then the prices should start from around £3200 and can go up to anywhere as far as £5,500 usually in price.”

This price is based on the Platinum curved Stairlift which is made in the UK and we highly recommend this lift due to the quality and reliablity of it. There is of course the Freelift curved stairlift which is another curved stairlift that we sell alot of in London, again great quality and reliability but also the think track is very appealing.

Advice when purchasing a stairlift in London:

Buy a stairlift from a company who can install the chair lift themselves, why? this is because if in the unlikehood you do have problems, you know the provider will be able to fix it right away and can deal with it.  If the supplier does not have the engineers to install their own stairlifts, then it’s highly likely they will be relaint on another Stairlift company to supply this service - in which case, this results in the customer paying a higher price and a longer response time as you not be priority - SO be careful to check this out!

Top Flight Stairlifts in London have theor own qualified Stairlift engineers and installers, they also have a Stairlift breakdown department to repsond to callouts 24/7.

What if I have a Stairlift in London and it has broken down?

Brooks Stairlifts Control – Stairlift Breakdown

Top Flight Stairlifts charge approximately £60 for a call out.” If you have taken out a warranty package this will obvisouly be free of charge.

We ensure when we install a stairlift in London, it is installed with precison and care as this ensure the lift runs smoothly, efficiently and avoids unecessary problems further down the line. Manchester Stairlifts – “Eating Broccoli helps with arthritis”

Manchester Health News – Eating Broccoli helps with arthritis

There is great health advice below for the arthritic sufferers and plenty of helpful guidence to support those with mobility issues or joint problems. This information is supplied from a recommended and reputable mobility & stairlift supplier in Manchester – Top Flight Stairlifts – a main supplier of Stairlifts in Manchester.

“Scientists from the University of East Anglia have launched a ground breaking new project to investigate the benefits of broccoli in the fight against arthritis” – Arthritis Today Magazine.

Help for Arthritic suffers in
Manchester

The greater Manchester area has a growing population of those who suffer not just from arthritis but general wear and tear on their joints and limbs.

With this growing concern of wearing out joints or over working, Top Flight Stairlifts & Mobility are helping individuals to maintain good movement and flexibility in their joints
but also to assist in areas where individuals are more likely over work or stretch themselves in their daily activites – which can cause unnecessary injury or discomfort.

What is their Solution in Manchester?

“Manchester Mobility & Stairlift supplier aim to help this segment of Manchester’s population”

Daniel at Top Flight Stairlifts in Manchester says:

“We have elderly members in our family and we are fully aware of the importance of independence and dignity for those who have lost some of their mobility, whether it’s through sickness or old age. We are trying to allow individuals to maintain their personal freedom, in and out of the home.”

“We want people to enjoy a better quality of life, to exercise safely, or to move safely and more often. The fact is – when we exert ourselves too heavily, that’s when we are more likely to stumble or injure or aggravate a problem. The key to keeping good health is remaining balanced. That means building up strength and health gradually.”

Some might argue, if I use a Stairlift / Chair Lift or a mobility scooter, that it means I will exercise less and therefore deteriorate faster. Is that the case? No. But what do you think could happen, if climbing stairs or taking on general activities is a challenge for someone or it is becoming increasingly more difficult them – in due time an accident/fall is waiting to happen – then what? An uncomfortable ache, a pulled muscle, or worse a new hip, or broken ankle possibly.

What Top Flight Mobility in Manchester are trying to encourage is, maintain your personal freedom but in a safer way!

Option 1 – Using a Stairlift according to your ability.

Maybe using a Stairlift or Chair Lift but only when necessary. This could be first thing in

New & Used Stairlifts with Style & Comfort

the morning and last thing at night for instance. This way, we keep up some exercise in the home but, we do not over-do it, so that we increase the chance of an accident, fall or injury.

Option 2 – The use of a walking aid or Mobility Scooter.

In such cases where someone can only walk to the shop 500 yards away and back. They could reason well, that’s my exercise each day and if I get a scooter or a wheelchair I may have to forsake that part of my exercise.

Again, a more balanced view of the situation is – we know that exercise is important to our customers, equally is your own freedom and independence. So what we encouraged again here, is that using a Mobility Scooter that suits your needs and circumstances means, you can still walk and gain that exercise – but, doing so when you are feeling comfortable and strong enough to do so.

What it also means, is that you can increase independence as you can now travel a much

Staying in touch with friends

greater distance and become involved in other activities that were formerly beyond our capability – e.g. going for a long walk with the family. You can use the scooter but get off
intermittently to get that ice cream or go to the toilets or stop at that café for lunch.

In this manner you are getting more physical activity – but are gaining exercise in a safe way and over a prolonged period of time. This will increase strength, stamina and flexibility.
More importantly improve your well-being through an increase in your personal freedom
& independence.

When you’re having an off day – it doesn’t have to mean your plans are now off!

On the days you are not feeling the best, you are still able to function as part of your daily routine and no longer have to cancel your plans because you feel “you’re not up to it”.

Various sizes, ranges and styles - in store Demo available

Instead you can rely on your support aids, whether it’s a walking aid, a Mobility Scooter or even the Stairlift. The result – you can still get out of the house and do what you wanted to do and feel much better about yourself.

Of course there are severe cases of disability or lack of mobility. In such instances mobility aids will be required all the time for some individuals. Whatever your circumstances are, Top Flight Stairlifts & Mobility based in Manchester who serve the UK, are able to provide all the support and solutions available in the market. Why not call them for more free information on 0800 093 6117.

Dementia Care – Keeping Independent

As we get older, we can all notice problems with our memory, where did we put the TV remote? the car keys? Even what we did yesterday, often stress, tiredness, anxiety even depression can lead to memory problems which can occur at any age, however, forgetfulness can be an early sign of Dementia as we get older.

Dementia is characterised as a group of symptoms, loss of memory, mood changes and confusion caused by damage to the brain. Dementia is progressive, which means the symptoms will gradually get worse. How fast dementia progresses will depend on the individual. Each person is unique and will experience dementia in their own way.

There are several diseases and conditions that cause dementia. These include:

  • Alzheimer’s disease − The most common cause of dementia. During the course of the disease the chemistry and structure of the brain changes, leading to the death of brain cells.
  • Vascular disease − The brain relies on a network of vessels to bring it oxygen-bearing blood. If the oxygen supply to the brain fails, brain cells are likely to die and this can cause the symptoms of vascular dementia. These symptoms can occur either suddenly, following a stroke, or over time through a series of small strokes.
  • Dementia with Lewy bodies − This form of dementia gets its name from tiny spherical structures that develop inside nerve cells. Their presence in the brain leads to the degeneration of brain tissue. Memory, concentration and language skills are affected. This form of dementia shares some characteristics with Parkinson’s disease
  • Fronto-temporal dementia (including Pick’s disease) − In fronto-temporal dementia, damage is usually focused in the front part of the brain. At first, personality and behaviour are more affected than memory.

As challenging as these circumstances may sound, there are lots of people enjoying life who cope very well with Dementia. They continue to have an independent life simply by making some small changes to their home, routines, and with support from family and friends as well as taking advantage of the wide range of Dementia daily living aids available on the market.

In the North West, Top Flight Stairlifts and Top Flight Mobility, can source aids to help you to live more comfortably. Top Flight Mobility help people to cope more successfully from memory loss, right the way through to getting around the house and even to the local shops.

There are some great ideas and solutions that are available that you just may not have been aware of, for instance:

Key safes allow family support and such like, to have access in emergencies whilst protecting your safety.

Door phones – an aid which securely enables the elderly and disabled attend to callers. A useful security device for any home or building, especially those with vulnerable occupiers who have visitors. Personal Message Recorders, these are great for recording those mental notes that you can play back at any time, to ensure you don’t forget what is important, such as appointments or jobs that need doing.  Quite often weekly planners are used by a variety of individuals to prevent missing those important activities.

There are large button telephones from a little as £18.69 that can really make it easier to hear due to the amplified call volume. As well, a visual light to indicate incoming calls. It’s much easier to dial using the extra large key pad too.

We also have automatic water release sink plugs, water level alarms to prevent the bath or sink from overflowing. Even Gas detectors to put your mind at rest, and prevent your family from undue concern.

How about your health??? You know, Tablet Wallets are great for holding your medication safely and securely at home or when travelling. Our customers find the alarm reminder pill boxes extremely useful especially, at affordable prices and because they are easy to use automatic pill dispensers.

To avoid the pitfalls during the night sensor lights have been a great way to avoid those unnecessary trips and falls.  Fall detectors and pressure mat alert kits are a fabulous way to prevent injury and improve the quality of your health.  Did you know? You can have a location tracker, door /window opening alarm, home CCTV system, so that your family and friends can be confident you are in safe hands. Stockport – The Four Heatons

Stockport has a long history of engineering in the early to mid 1900’s it was of cars, aircraft parts and engines, today the engineering industry still exists but more independent precision engineering companies. A form of engineering which was not available in the early 1900’s was the production of stairlifts. It is estimated that the earliest stairlifts where recorded in America in the 1930’s. Today many people reply on the use of manufactured uk stairlifts to enable them to keep their independence.

Top Flight Stairlifts are fully qualified stair lift engineers working with brands such as Brooks, Bison Bede, Stannah, MediTek, Freelift, Acorn and Minivator. We supply straight  stair lifts and curved stairlifts together with a wide range of services including New lifts, Reconditioned stairlifts, Stairlift rentals, stairlift breakdown and stair lift servicing plus comprehensive extended stairlift warranties for total peace of mind in all the areas mentioned, i.e. stairlifts Stockport, stairlifts Manchester, stairlifts in the whole of the North West and stairlifts Lancashire.

So when you need a quality stairlift engineer call 0800 093 6117 or see our website wwww.topflightstairlifts.co.uk

Top Flight service the Four Heatons which are four affluent suburbs to the northwest of Stockport, bordering the city of Manchester. They are: Heaton Norris, Heaton Moor, Heaton Mersey and Heaton Chapel. All of the Heatons were originally districts of Heaton Norris, the then ecclesiastical centre of the area and lay within the historic County Boundaries of Lancashire. Originally a rural farming district.

The opening of Heaton Norris railway station in 1840 and Heaton Chapel & Heaton Moor railway station in 1853 changed everything. Heaton Moor became a railway suburb. The farmland was sold, and new wide tree lined streets were developed now some of the desirable residences in Stockport. In neighboring Reddish industry was expanding. The Houldsworth Mill opened in 1860, and Reddish’s population increased from 1360 to 8660 within 40 years.

Today Heaton Mersey and Heaton Moor is commuter belt for well to do professionals working in Manchester, it has a fantastic range of Bars, Cafe’s, Pubs and Restaurants.
A little known fact is that Heaton Norris Rovers, now known as Stockport County Football Club was formed in 1883, and used to play on a pitch behind the Nursery Inn on Green Lane. In 1902 they left the Green Lane ground and moved to Edgeley Park.

Heaton Norris, Heaton Mersey, Heaton Moor and Heaton Chapel are on the north bank of the River Mersey, and south of the Cringle Brook, to the west of Reddish and the River Tame. The former Manchester to Buxton roman road the A6 pass through Heaton Norris, as does the London to Manchester railway. This is carried from Heaton Norris to Edgeley by the massive brick built Stockport Viaduct.

Stockport Viaduct

When the wind is blowing in the right direction you can smell the sweet smell not of ‘Robinsons Brewery’, but of the large biscuit works which was opened in 1918.

In 1835 part of the parish was ceded to Stockport and hence Cheshire, Heaton Chapel and Heaton Moor remained in Lancashire, more was transferred in 1894 and the remains transferred in 1913.
